A Purpose Driven Lifestyle

By this time, I hope you’ve made that list of goals and have began the crushing process. I have SO many things I want to accomplish before the year ends and I know that if I focus, put the work in and speak great things into my universe and over my life, I’ll be on deck in no time lol.

So the other night I was trying to get some things in order for my brand and attempting to narrow down exactly what I wanted to focus on. So I did my usual, I got on the computer and googled “how to find my purpose” because ultimately it’s not about me, it’s about being a vessel and being a service to others…. #Anywaydoe, i stumbled across this list of TED talks that were actually pretty cool. One that stood out in particular discussed the concept of a ‘multipotentialite’ which is a person who has many different interests and creative pursuits in life. Multipotentialites have no “one true calling” the way specialists do.

So of course I’m like YASSSSSSSSS because that’s so me. This concept is definitely going to help shape my entire brand because all of us don’t fit in the boxes that society created. I’m totally here for creating my own lane.

Another article I stumbled across had 7 questions to help you find your purpose. I was going to just journal them and maybe hang them on my wall, but I decided to share the questions and my answers with you all.

If you need some help defining your path, go ahead and answer the questions yourself! They’re kind of weird but it helps puts some stuff in perspective.

1. What struggle or sacrifice are you willing to tolerate?

I for sure can tolerate losing some sleep. Long work hours. Less social activity. Money. Staying with my parents. Not having a car. Those are just ones off the top of my head. Stuff I’m going through now. You never really know what you’ll risk until you’re put in that position. Sacrifice and struggle are definitely a learning portion of the journey.

2. What is true about you today that would make your 8 year old self cry?

Let’s see. At 8 years old, i was in 3rd grade…. or maybe 4th because I got promoted. I played the violin. I had a pretty consistent group of friends. And as of today, I don’t play any instruments. As far as consistent friends go, girl bye lol. My 8 year old self would probably cry about the no friends part. Because I’m a people person (despite the fact that I’m pretty much an introvert lol)

3. What makes you forget to eat and use the bathroom?

Working on PR projects and any project for another person. Like I can sit at the computer for hours working on a campaign. Or I can research forever when I’m coordinating events. Any form of helping others gets me in my zone. Which is why I can’t really narrow down my field because you can help people in many ways. You can ‘develop above average reputations’ through many different things.

4. How can you better embarrass yourself?

A lot of people shy away from things for the sheer reason of fear or just not wanting to be embarrassed. My attempt towards better embarrassing myself would be more public speaking arrangements and more networking events. People tend to love me. It’s time to use that to my advantage. Also exploring my hidden talent of singing.

5. How are you going to save the world?

As in pick a cause and fight for it. Make deposits into your bank of goodwill often. The #1 cause close to my heart is Diabetes and Juvenile Diabetes. Another one would be the rate of homelessness. I would dedicate time and money to both of those

6. Gun to your head, if you had to leave your house all day, everyday, where would you go and what would you do? (Minus electronics)

Hmmmm, I would probably find somewhere quiet like a coffee shop, library or park, and I would read, write and people watch. I’m a chaser of serenity and zen so I like to be in calm environments or around great vibes and energies.

7. If you knew you were going to die one year from today, what would you do and how would you want to be remembered?

I would probably cry first lol. I would only be 24 when I died. But I would definitely go hard in my career. I would do a lot of traveling. I would help as many people as I could. I’d get married and maybe even have a child. I would visit all my family members all over the US. I mean I would attempt to do EVERYTHING. As far as how I want to be remembered: I want to be thought of as a kind spirit with a very open and warm personality that was always there to help and always about her business!

So there it is. If you’re on a journey to purpose this year, I’m right here with you. I have a lot of goals and plans this year which include becoming a millionaire (dream big playa).
